The Youth Health Center at Amherst Regional High School has been in operation since 1996. It is currently staffed by Jacqlyn McIver, a Social Worker, and the new Youth Health Centre (YHC) Coordinator for ARHS. 😊
Public Health has switched up the YHC coordinator roles in Cumberland County, allowing Mrs. McIver to work at ARHS five days a week. Our YHC hours will be posted by the door for students to access supports.
Mrs. McIvor's role is very flexible; and students are welcome to drop-in without appointments. She is here to help with service navigation and referrals, provide information and resources, chat with students about health and other needs, and provide health related supplies. The YHC can be used as a space for students who need quiet time to self-regulate. We have couches, bean bag chairs, stim toys, and coloring supplies. For health supplies, the YCH has: condoms (regular lubricated, xl lubricated, non-latex), lubricant, dental dams, pads, tampons, and pregnancy tests. All are kept by the door for students to grab.
